As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, The Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) is supporting Staff to work remotely from the comfort of your own home, whilst still being able to access the systems and resources you require to do your job.
This page will provide details on how to set up and connect to AIE's Virtual Private Network (VPN) infrastructure, how to obtain IT Support from home and various other Frequently Asked Questions.
If you wish to sign up to the Work From Home Program, please see your Head of School or Reporting Manager.
How can I connect to the network drives on my Personal PC?
You will be able to connect to the network drives from your Personal PC in two ways:
You can manually navigate to the network drives you want to use each time or you can map these network drives (which will allow your PC to remember these drives).
To manually navigate to a network drive please follow these steps:
- First, ensure you are connected to the VPN.
- Open 'File Explorer' and type in the drive path you wish to access in the address box shown below (a list of the drive paths are listed below)
- Staff Drive = \\file1\Staff Drive
- Classes Drive = \\adlfs2\Classes
- Reference Drive = \\adlfs2\Reference
- Render Drive = \\adlfs2\Render
3. A log in window will appear. Please select the 'More Choices' button and enter your AIE Staff account details with "AIE\" prepending your username. An example of this is shown below.
4. You will now be taken to the network drive.
To map a drive to your PC please follow these steps:
- First, ensure you are connected to the VPN.
- Open 'File Explorer' and click on 'This PC' in the left navigation bar.
- Make sure the 'Computer' tab is selected and click 'Map a network drive'
- Then selecting a Drive letter and entering in one of the above locations as the Folder. For example to replicate our Z:\Classes drive you would enter.
- Click 'Finish' and your mapped drive will now show up under 'This PC' in 'File Explorer'.
