As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, The Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) is supporting Staff to work remotely from the comfort of your own home, whilst still being able to access the systems and resources you require to do your job.

This page will provide details on how to set up and connect to AIE's Virtual Private Network (VPN) infrastructure, how to obtain IT Support from home and various other Frequently Asked Questions.

How can I obtain help & support?

You will be able to obtain IT Support via the same methods you would on campus:

You can contact IT via the Service Desk or if the issue is urgent please call (02) 6163 9500

Note

IT staff may request access to your PC by directing you to visit https://aie.screenconnect.com/ and join a support session.


How can I set up VPN connectivity on my Personal PC?


For specific information on how to connect, please select the location of your workplace:


Select your campus from the tab bar above.

  1. Login to https://aus.vpn.aie.edu with your AIE username and password
  2. Click “Download client and configuration for Windows”
  3. Once downloaded, install the software to your computer

  3. Once downloaded, install the software to your computer

How can I set up VPN Connectivity on a Loan PC?

This should not be required as the VPN client will have already been installed by IT before you collected the loan PC.

If you cannot find the VPN client on your Loaned PC, please call the Service Desk number on (02) 6163 9500


How do I connect and disconnect from the VPN?
  1. From the Windows taskbar (bottom right corner), find the traffic light symbols - this is the Sophos VPN client
  2. Either double click the icon and you'll be prompted to enter your AIE username/password.
  3. Click "OK" and after a couple of seconds, you should be connected.
  4. You can tell you've successfully connected as the traffic light icon will become green
  1. From the Windows taskbar (bottom right corner), find the traffic light symbols - this is the Sophos VPN client
  2. Double click this icon
  3. Click "Disconnect"

You should disconnect from the VPN when you finish work for the day.


How can I connect to the network drives on my Personal PC?

You will be able to connect to the network drives from your Personal PC in two ways:

You can manually navigate to the network drives you want to use each time or you can map these network drives (which will allow your PC to remember these drives).

Click on the campus that is relevant to you.

To manually navigate to a network drive please follow these steps:
  1. First, ensure you are connected to the VPN.
  2. Open 'File Explorer' and type in the drive path you wish to access in the address box shown below (a list of the drive paths are listed below)
    • Staff Drive = \\file1\Staff Drive
    • Classes Drive = \\adlfs2\Classes
    • Reference Drive = \\adlfs2\Reference
    • Render Drive = \\adlfs2\Render

3. A log in window will appear. Please select the 'More Choices' button and enter your AIE Staff account details with "AIE\" prepending your username. An example of this is shown below.

4. You will now be taken to the network drive.


To map a drive to your PC please follow these steps:

  1. First, ensure you are connected to the VPN.
  2. Open 'File Explorer' and click on 'This PC' in the left navigation bar.
  3. Make sure the 'Computer' tab is selected and click 'Map a network drive'
  4. Then selecting a Drive letter and entering in one of the above locations as the Folder. For example to replicate our Z:\Classes drive you would enter.
  5. Click 'Finish' and your mapped drive will now show up under 'This PC' in 'File Explorer'.

How can I connect to the network drives on a Loan PC?

Network drives on a Loan PC should be mapped already and you can see them by opening 'File Explorer'

If these drives are not working please try the following:

  1. Ensure you have successfully connected to the VPN
