If you want to request new software
Step-by-step guide
The process for requesting software is different depending if you are wanting the software installed on a Classroom Machine (including Teacher PC) or a Staff Machine
Requesting NEW software on a Classroom Machine
- If you are a student, you will need to talk to your Teacher to do this on your behalf
- send an email to your HOF (Head of Faculty), outlining the software name, its function and your need case
- The HOF will review the software need, and if approved will send a New software request to IT for Review,Testing, Purchasing and Deployment
Software Deployment
Software deployed for the Classroom environment is an "All or none" arrangement to keep all machines compliant with the SOE (Standard operating Environment)
Requesting software on a Staff Machine
- Staff can contact IT for admin rights to their staff machines and are free to install any software, pending they abide by any licensing terms
- If you require assistance installing any software, please submit a ticket to IT requesting assistance
Licensing
Please note that many software packages that are free to use are not free in a business environment (Eg Teamviewer). Please review the license details before installing. If you are unsure, please contact IT
Software Required to Assist Disability Devices
The exception to the above is software that is required to run Disability Devices (such as foot pedals). These software packages are pre-authorised for installation by IT staff; Please see Software Required to Assist Disability Devices
