AIE has a "Staff" network drive that staff can map that is accessible from any campus, including from the USA campuses.

Temporary Solution

Having to manually map this drive is temporary until Active Directory is rolled out. Once rolled out, this drive will automatically be mapped for all Staff.

Step-by-step guide to mapping the Staff Drive

For Microsoft Windows:

  1. Open 'My Computer' and click 'Map Network Drive'
  2. The "Map Network Drive" dialogue window will open, enter the following details:
    1. Drive: S:
    2. Folder: \\file1.ad.aie.edu\Staff
    3. Check the "Reconnect at logon" checkbox
    4. Check the "Connect using different credentials" checkbox
  3. The "Enter Network Password" window will open, enter your login details:
    1. Username format: aie\username where "username" is the first part of your e-mail address. For example if your e-mail is "johns@aie.edu.au" then your username is "aie\johns".
    2. Enter your password
    3. Check the "Remember my credentials" checkbox
  4. Click "Ok"
  5. Done, you will now have an "S:\Staff" drive available back in your My Computer

For Apple Mac OS X:

  1. Open "Finder"
  2. Click "Go" -> "Connect to Server" in your menubar
  3. Enter "smb://file1.aie.edu.au/Staff" as the "Server Address"
  4. Click "Connect"
  5. Enter your login details:
    1. Username format: aie\username where "username" is the first part of your e-mail address. For example if your e-mail is "johns@aie.edu.au" then your username is "aie\johns"
    2. Check the "Remember this password in my keychain" checkbox
  6. Click "Connect"
  7. Done, you will now have an "file1.aie.edu.au" share available in your Finder under "Shared"
