Problem

Getting an error "Submit Failed, Please try again" when trying to upload a file for a submission of an assignment in Canvas.

...

  • Clear your browser cache and cookies - Sometimes the collection of web page data stored on your computer can cause issues. Clearing your cache forces the browser to use the newest data available from Canvas.
  • Try a different browser - To ensure the issue is not related to the browser you are using, please attempt the upload using a different browser. This can assist in troubleshooting by identifying if the issue is browser specific.
  • Use an incognito/private window - You may find that using the incognito or private mode for your browser can help to “turn off” any browser plugins or extensions and/ or may avoid issues related to browser cache and cookies. Attempt your upload in the incognito or private browser mode and see if this makes a difference.
  • Check the file size of the file intended for upload - Canvas has the following file upload limits:

Canvas Files
5 GB
5GB max file size
*
Bulk File Uploads50 files at one time
Media (Audio/Video) Files500 MB

Note: If file compression is required and you compress it to less than 5GB and it still fails, then please attempt the same file upload again using either an incognito/private browser window or clearing your browser cache.
